So, I may or may not have inadvertently infected my laptop with spyware over the weekend, because I am freaking awesome that way. I'll have her fixed up in no time, though (or at least that's what I've been telling myself). In any case, my 24th Birthday was awesome all around.
So, I technically started celebrating a week early, because I thought that I would be in St. George for the actual day. Well, that didn't happen because Baby Paisley Mae was born on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 1:09 p.m., and I didn't want to cramp her grandma's style by showing up too soon. That and I figure that her parents will need me more in two weeks when they haven't slept or showered. So, I had a party on the 15th and it was a blast. Old friends, new friends, vodka...it was beautiful. I did fail with the camera though, seeing as I only broke it out after most everyone had left. I'm fired. I was having a really good time though, so I have an excuse I suppose.
The weekend of I spent with My Husteds on Wednesday night (they were in town from Nebraska, where Byron is going to law school), and then my best friend from back home came to spend the weekend with me. It was awesome. I had so much fun reconnecting with old friends.
I'm having mixed feelings about being 24. I mean, I'm only 24 in all the practical ways, but I'm way past that in all the non-practical ways. I mean...I'm a divorcee and I own my own condo. Who else is both of those things by age 24? No one I know. So I feel old, even though I've barely scratched the "adult" label. Being an adult, I have decided, sucks by default. As MGMT says, I miss the playground and the animals and digging up worms. I miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world...
We really are fated to pretend.
oh, and PS: YouTube, I don't appreciate you disabling the embed feature. Seriously, that's not cool.
