Surgery and What Not

So, I'm thinking it's a good thing that I had surgery a week and a half ago and this is the first time that I'm actually blogging. I am taking it as a good thing because that means that I wasn't sitting around with time on my hands for the last week and a half. Nope. I was busy with friends and family and tattoo work and writing and partying it up! Basically my recovery so far has been awesome. So that's one week and counting, and if things keep going the way they have been, the next six weeks of recovery time are going to be awesome.

Of course, I may not need the whole six weeks. I'm already down to one pain pill per day (none so far today!), but that may be because I've been taking naps in the afternoon. Sleep is very important for the healing process, you know ;-) I'm trying not to over do it, though. Too much sleep isn't good for you either. The surgeon stitched me up with the dissolving stitches and skin glue, so I don't have to go have anything removed. I do see the surgeon again in a couple of weeks. Hopefully at that point he'll tell me that I can resume massages for a while to loosen my muscles back up. Muscle memory is definitely no joke. My body thinks that I have been injured again (which isn't that far off actually, since surgery is really just controlled injury to the body), so my hip muscles have clamped back down on the joint to keep my leg from falling off. They did the same thing when I broke my leg 10 years ago, and right after the car accident in March. My massage therapist, Connie, and I had made a lot of progress getting those muscles to chill out before the surgery, and now they're right back to being overprotective.

So that's that. I have pictures on my phone to be posted. Stay tuned for them :)
