Elder Brother

(mine is the blond one, in case you were confused!)

For those of you that are counting, my little bro Geoff has been in Mexico proselyting for the LDS Church for 23 months and some change. This means that he is coming home in exactly 17 days!! I can't even begin to tell you how stoked I am for his return. We got to chat with him at Christmas, and it sounds like he is ready to be coming home too. I can certainly attest to the fact that the rest of the Belnaps are ready and rearing. The parentals are packing up and headed down to Cancun the weekend of January 21 to pick him up. Of course, they'll be doing some sight-seeing before they collect him from the mission home. Mom intends to go scuba diving in the ocean for probably the first time since she was in college, and I'm fairly certain Dad intends to golf. Geoff gave them specific instructions about getting their tourist activities done first, then picking him up, because he wants to get home ASAP! Honestly, having been to Cancun and having seen what he's been living in for the last two years (clay huts with thatched roofs, sleeping in a hammock, washing his clothes by hand, living in constant humidity), I can't blame him in the least!

So, his homecoming will be on Sunday, January 30, and we'll be hosting the open house. I'll be in town from the 27th or 28th to the 30th. I'm pretty sure we're serving Mexican food at the house after his address in church on Sunday, and sad as it is I have to question my Mom's judgement on that choice. When she told me we're having Mexican I said "Seriously? Don't you think Geoff is sick of Mexican food by now?" I mean, personally, I'd want a cheeseburger and fries, or a steak off of Dad's grill, but Mom wants to do Mexican so that's what we're doing, only without beans and rice because Geoff is SURELY sick of those by now. So, despite the redundant food choice, please feel free to stop by the Belnap house on January 30 if you are going to be in IF or any of the surrounding areas on that day :)
