2007 Year in Review

This year went by so fast.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know. We all say it every year and it's cliche but I'll say it anyway.

Like ridiculously fast. Time flies when you're having fun, eh? (I just can't get away from the cliches!)

But in all honest, this year was a lot of fun. Our first major vacation was Vegas in March for our Anniversary/Vinnie's birthday (it's so dang convenient that those things are close together). Of course, we've seen Vegas before--who hasn't?--but it was more fun this time because we actually paid money to go do things. And believe me, that is out of the ordinary for us. Anyway. It has come to my attention that I haven't really posted any pictures on this blog, so I guess I'll go ahead and do that! Here's some Vegas pictures:

We saw all of the regular things, of course. I mean, the Strip is the Strip, right? But we also went and saw a few shows, including the newest Cirque d' Sole show "Zumanity." It was amazing. We also went to a comedy show, a 3D movie and the Bodies exhibit (which was both slightly creepy and extremely interesting). We also created a new tradition of getting our pictures taken each year for our Anniversary. We ended up spending way too much money, but I wouldn't have changed anything about the trip. It was way too much fun!

We had planned on visiting New York in May, but we didn't really have the energy (or the funds) after Vegas. New York isn't cheap, for sure. So we just worked through the summer. Vinnie took his Certified Equity Professional Level 1 exam and passed (of course), so he is now a genuine CEP. Of course the most exciting thing that happened over the summer was the birth of the world's cutest baby ever: my nephew Christofre Paul Turton II!
Seriously, if this kid was any cuter, it would be illegal. I can't even begin to tell you how much I LOVE being an aunt. It's awesome! Those of us who have been aunts can back me up. I'm willing to bet that it is akin to having your own child, but without as much of the diaper changing and getting zero sleep part. That's probably why I enjoy it so much. Vinnie thought that having a nephew would make me baby hungry for my own, but in all honesty its just made me the world's happiest aunt!
Halloween 2007 was awesome. OMG, it was so much fun I can hardly even believe it. Vinnie's costume was by far the best. Him in all of his pimping glory was awesome! The bright green coat and hat also made it extremely easy to pick him out of the crowd while we were at the club. My costume was pretty stellar too, but the best part of it was my huge hair. My hair is pretty big to start with all on its own, but when I bust out some strategic back-combing, it is huge! You probably can't tell from this picture, but I was wearing LONG and SPARKLY eyelashes, which were also awesome and will be used again at the first chance that I get (ahem, Christmas)!

I also got to visit the charming little town of Moab for the first time ever in November 2007. Seriously, folks, if you're going to go to Moab, do it in the off season. You'll thank me for it. We had an absolute blast. The best part, I think, was the fact that we got to go with our good friends Byron and Besi Husted. Going on vacation is fun, but going with friends makes it that much more fun. Arches National Park is stunning. I mean, I've seen pictures and what not, but actually being there is an experience that I think every person should have. This picture is me in front of Landscape Arch (which is slowly falling apart, by the way). This was the longest hike that we did in the park--a whopping 2 miles round trip, I think--but it was worth it. We didn't attempt the hike up to the Delicate Arch (you know, the one on the Utah license plate) because it's like a 5 or 6 mile hike, but we saw just about everything else there is to see in Arches.
Anyhow. Those are the major events in 2007 so far. I'm very much looking forward to the now-traditional Christmas Eve party, and I am hoping that New Year's Eve this year is better than it was last year. I'll certainly be posting pictures of both soon enough!
