The month of June has been pretty action packed. Now that it's the end of the month I wonder how I made it through. But I did, so all is good. I'm still in the process of buying a new home computer (it's been what? Like four months or something...), so I don't have some of the pics that I want to post available yet. I promise that I'll get them up soon. For now we'll content ourselves with a quick run down of June 2010.
The month started out with a voyage up to ye ol' IF Town with the BF, my bestest best B and my Matty to party with Tay Tay and go to Beerfest. I got scorched and didn't take any pics on my own camera. Remind me to ask Matty to send me some. Bestest Best B and the BF got to see the family residence for the first time, and we discovered that Tay's girlfriend is an amazing artist. I also got to see my darling Carmy Carms for the first time after her sad day. As per usual she was her beautiful and cheery self, and I was again reminded why this woman is such an inspiration to me. I heart her.
The next weekend was spent putting my bed together. I just recently added a string of star lights at the head, which look awesome and are way better than candles on the nightstand. In case you're wondering about the state of my project list, it hasn't changed much. Though I have collected paint samples for the kitchen and bathroom, and for the wall in my nook. Hopefully July will be less activity-filled so that I can actually get that done.
On June 19 the BF and I went boating with the Family for my daddy's birthday. He turned 50 on June 16 this year, and I'd be lying if I told you that the milestone didn't hit me like a ton of bricks. It's weird enough that I'm turning 25 this year, but my daddy is 50! Maybe I find it strange because he was my age now when I was born. No, I don't think that's it. I'm not really sure I find it strange, and now that it has passed and things are still the same, I've stopped wondering about it. So, moving on.
Last weekend was amazing. It started out with a three hour visit to Sue for more ink. I will post a picture soon, and before I do let me just answer: YES, it hurt A LOT and no it's not done yet. I've got at least one, maybe two, more three hour sessions. I won't keep you completely in suspense, though (because that's just mean), but I don't want to give it all away either. So I'll just show you the inspiration. The design was altered a bit to allow for the level of detail I wanted, but no major changes were made. Even though it's just outline, shading and about 1/7 of the color so far, it looks awesome!
Also awesome last weekend, my hardworking BF was able to take two whole days and one half day off work! And trust me, that's a rare thing for him. It was good to actually have more than just one weekend day together. I probably shouldn't get to used to it, though, because he's in the middle of developing a product that's only going to be more time consuming once it's up and running (more information about what that product is when the time comes). But I certainly did enjoy it while I could!
On Friday we went south (to my least favorite place on the planet: UT County) to see the largest gathering of my dad's family that's been seen for five years. You see, I have cousins that currently live in Russia and Abu Dhabi, and that previously lived in Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Hawaii, and Dubai. Then there is us and my dad's sister, in the always exotic UT and ID. So naturally we don't get together too often. Can I just tell you the shock of seeing my 14 year old Cousin Ephie in all of his >6 foot glory? Last time we hung out he was 3. And before that I saw him and his family in Mexico City when he was 18 months. So yeah, it was a shock.
We gathered together this year because my Grandpa B turned 80! So many milestones in just one month. Anyway, we had dinner at a reception hall (my aunt's sister owns it) and there was a presentation about the different roles that Gpa has played in his life (son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, teacher, principal, farmer, etc.). Then there was gift giving and picture taking. The fam headed out to the lake on my parentals' boat on Saturday. We did not join them, though, because the BF and I both have healing tattoos that should be kept out of direct sunlight. They also had another dinner at the same reception hall on Saturday night with extended family and friends, but an allergy attack kept me from going to that. I'm sure there are pictures somewhere.
So that was June in Jessaland. Next weekend is Independence Day, and I don't have anything planned. I'm sure there's a lot going on, but with the excitement in June prevented me from thinking about anything more than three days in advance. To be honest I'd be completely okay with NOTHING for which I have to plan happening in July. Except for painting my house, which is priority number one. And I promise I'll buy a computer soon so that all of these awesome pics I've been collecting can be displayed in all their glory.
So that's it for me for now. Y'all have a good weekend!
