My Sleepy Kitty

Crazy cat lady alert: My cat is adorable.

Seriously, I want to squeeze her all the time. She's not a fan of that kind of thing, but I do it anyway. Because, honestly, how do you resist this?

Even when she is naughtily sitting on C's laptop, it's hard to be too angry because she's just so fluffy and little (not an oz over 8 lbs since she was about a year and a half old). I'm starting to suspect that she knows something strange is going on with me. She's been very needy and particularly cuddly lately, which is very out of character for her. I already know that she is NOT going to be happy when the baby comes home. She hasn't liked my nephew since he was a baby in his car seat, even though he's never done anything except look at her. So, I expect that I'll have to tolerate some acting out from her when the new addition comes home, but she'll get used to it eventually.

Photo Roundup

If one were to scroll through the photo reel on my phone one would find one of two types of pictures: the series, in which several pics are taken of the same thing or event, and the randoms, which have no theme or connection. For example:

This came out of a high school memory box not too long ago, and I felt compelled to display it. This is a classic example of what Bestie and I called the Caitlin page. Many a page of big blank paper was covered similarly, using our favorite weapon of choice, the crayola marker. The Caitlin page either began or encouraged my collage obsession...

A lady bug made its way into my house during my birthday party. She was there for a couple of days too. I tried to help her get back outside, but my efforts were in vain. I didn't see her again, though, so I hope she made it!

This is a tree outside of my Chiropractor's office. It was the first tree I saw changing colors, and this is two or three weeks after I first noticed. The weather has been amazing for the last two weeks: warm with a nice cool breeze. Perfect! But the creeping brown on these leaves and the red pockets showing up on the mountain face don't lie: Winter is coming.

Not surprisingly, one of the themed series on my photo reel is Kitty, and now it's not just my kitty! Meet Hanna:

She is one of T's kitties, and she has gorgeous green eyes and the cutest little cheeks you will ever see!

Speaking of green eyes, this is what happens when Kitty looks directly at the camera as it is flashing:

Alien kitty! The best part is that the reflected flash is so much that you can hardly see the rest of her.

NEW!

As most of you know, for the last couple of years I've been an avid iPhone user. In fact, up until the previous post most of the pics on this blog (and this one) were taken on the iPhone. Well, as all good things must be eventually, my iPhone was decommissioned from phone use in exchange for a spiffy new myTouch Slide. While I do miss some of the things about my iPhone (like...well...um...hmm...music?), it was time to upgrade, and I did NOT want to drop another $400 on a newer iPhone and deal with all of the same things that my original had to deal with, it being a jailbroken model and everything. So I went on into the cell phone store near my work on my lunch break and got set up with the new one.

So far I really like it. Having a keyboard is awesome, and having a touch-screen and a keypad is even better! The camera is nice too. Those pictures of Paisley Mae were taken on my new phone, and I used it to take all the before and after pictures of this weekend's project (more on that to come when I get all the after pictures taken). While I was taking pics yesterday and getting frustrated that the camera wouldn't capture colors the same way my eyes do, I found out that it has some cool effects like Sepia and Negative and Solarize and Posterize, which was my fav. Candy was oh so excited to be my test subject:You can tell by the yawn that she's obviously enthralled by my attempts to get her picture. The effect is pretty sweet.

And of course there is always the great standby effect, grayscale. Kind of boring and overused (like Sepia, if you ask me), but still fun. Candy does well in black and white:
Mostly I am able to capture her attempt to ignore me, particularly when I have the flash on (a flash! On a cell phone camera? It's new to me...), but she's just so damn cute that I can hardly resist shoving the camera in her face whenever I get the chance. I'm kind of crazy like that, I suppose.

Crazy Cat Lady?

Yes, I am. I've just accepted the fact. I mean, I only have one, and she's my baby but she's not my child, so I'm not REALLY a crazy cat lady. But how could you resist this?Go on, I dare you to resist. I'll wait...yup, resistance is futile.

So, Candy has always had an obsession with bendy straws. Not surprising, considering I might have an obsession as well. I forgot about this until recently, though, when I found her creeping on my straw:This is her best "I'm just scoping it out, but I won't touch it" pose. But then, sure enough, There she is, trying to get it out of the cup. The concentration on her face kills me. She's a very skilled hunter of the bendy straw.

Empty Nesters and an Aquarium

My parents are pretty close to being empty nesters. It will be official as of September, but they're already practicing. They came down on the spur of the moment on Saturday because I wanted them to see my new place and Ebs had Saturday and Sunday off work. With a grandchild around, though, it's not hard to convince them to come down here! They sure do love that baby!
By the way, "Ama" = Grandma and "Papa" = Grandpa. We went to the aquarium in Sandy, and I found Nemo!
I also found this awesome starfish, which I wanted to take home with me:
And, because the majority of the pictures on my phone consist of this kitty, I'll share:
Have I mentioned that she has an obsession with boxes? She loves em.

Friday, Friday, Friday!

Hooray for Fridays!

It recently came to my attention that I haven't posted any pictures Candy since she was a baby. How is that even possible? I'm not sure. I take a thousand pictures of her every month...perhaps it's because I don't want to be the crazy cat lady. I don't think there's anyway to avoid that at this point though!

So, Candy has a thing for bags. Grocery bags, suitcases, purses, paper bags... If there is a bag around, she will try to get in it or on it or under it. Exhibit A: I put my purse on the bed for two minutes while I put on jewelry, and turn around to find her sitting on it. And, of course, when I try to take it she gives me this look like "WTF, Mom? I was sitting there!"

Exhibit B: While we were preparing for our cruise in November, I brought the big suitcase in from the storage closet. It hadn't been on the floor for more than five minutes before she claimed it.

And, just for funsies because she is so freaking cute:Perched in the bookshelf. Yup, it's definitely too late for me to avoid being the crazy cat lady.
